Wonderful character development!
... View MorePlot so thin, it passes unnoticed.
... View MoreThe performances transcend the film's tropes, grounding it in characters that feel more complete than this subgenre often produces.
... View MoreIn truth, there is barely enough story here to make a film.
... View MoreThe current score, 6.7, is much too low for this miniseries. It was high enough to get me to give it a try, and I'm so glad I did, binge-watching it in two evenings. The story is engrossing and the cast, especially Carey Mulligan, is terrific.
... View MoreForgive my bad English, but I must say that that the story was so very good that I really hope for a second season. The female detective, played by Carey Muligan, is the closest to any female role I've encountered that is somewhat close to the character of Modesty Blaise. Differences may be huge, but what they have in common is the fight for rightness that in a way that goes beyond any story thats has male protagonists.Kip Glaspie "senses", as she herself explains, the thruth and follows her instinct all the way until the audience understands the complexity of the affair told. This is a story of how a female heroine uses her understanding of the system to find the killers and at the same time enlight viewers of the difficult situation we ask immigrants to accept in their efforts to start a new life. Extra plus to actress Nicola Walker that never fails a sensitive role of character.
... View MoreI was excited for the show, as I love me some British crime dramas (Happy Valley, Shetland, Hinterland, etc), but this was really disappointing. Acting was good but the story didn't even come close to doing it for me - very disjointed.
... View More4/4/18. I was getting into the British crime series and gave this a try. For the most part, it just seemed somewhat stiff and prodding. Probably could have been better as it had some potential.
