Too much about the plot just didn't add up, the writing was bad, some of the scenes were cringey and awkward,

I was totally surprised at how great this film. You could feel your paranoia rise as the film went on and as you gradually learned the details of the real situation.

While it is a pity that the story wasn't told with more visual finesse, this is trivial compared to our real-world problems. It takes a good movie to put that into perspective.

Mostly, the movie is committed to the value of a good time.

"Kill switch" boasts superb computer-generated effects and visuals, which, basically, is the only reason why I kept watching it. The apocalypse hitting the Netherlands (of all countries) every now and then produces scenes of great beauty, weirdness or both. However, the movie fails utterly with regard to a crucial element : it does not succeed in explaining its basic premise. It is possible that the narrative was inspired by a scientific concept of genius, or by a novel of rare insight and cleverness, but who's going to know ? Think of a lawyer who has to defend a prominent celebrity accused of manslaughter, who has thought up a dozen thunderingly good defenses, but can't explain or articulate any of them. Or think of a male teenager who, during a wedding feast, meets a woman of stunning beauty and charm, and gets so tongue-tied that he is incapable of any kind of meaningful interaction. ("I don't think we've met before. Are you one of Karen's cousins ?" "I"m.. I'm... Aaaargh.. Arrggl... Butterfly ! I eat kidneys !") Well, the movie is that bad.As if all of this wasn't bad enough, there is also the nervous, choppy, hectic style, which, coupled to gaming aesthetics, robs the movie of almost any possibility of character development. What am I saying ? It is difficult even to figure out who is or isn't a character, just as it is difficult to figure out what, if anything, the character is / was / will be doing. It's flicker flicker jump flash flicker switch jump turn turn switch flicker, pretty much for the whole length. Other reviewers may have mentioned this before me, but I'll say it anyway : do NOT watch the movie if you are subject to migraines or epilepsy. I gather that this is the director's first foray into cinema, so perhaps he can take comfort in an old saying : the first pancake of the batch is always a failure.

One of the worst sci-fi movie I ever saw. Annoying the video-game cam, without any sense the plot. Don't waste your time.

OK, the idea is not bad, but the directing is ... well, awful would be an improvement. All the deceased bodies are straight, no bent legs, just the arms are up or down. The main character's acting was decent enough, but the rest is bad, mostly unrealistic. Not as bad as an Steven Segal late period movies, but it's close. The CGI effects are not quite updated. The "remembering" scenes are badly written, especially towards the end.

If you ever wanted a decent Half Life Movie this is the nearest you are gonna get. This has a similar outlandish science fiction plot, portals between dimensions, a Barney Calhoun type character. Hell, the hero even looks somewhat like Gordon Freeman minus the glasses. Too bad the hazard suit is missing. The hero even picks up a crowbar at one point of the movie. I do not know why so much hate in the other reviews. This is a pretty smart looking sci-fi movie which I enjoyed. Seeing the reviews I almost didn't. I am glad I saw this. Decent graphics, the plot is straight out of a video game so are the camera angles. The lead takes 1-2 very stupid decisions but what the heck, its a video game inspired movie after all. I enjoyed this movie.
