Bad Acting and worse Bad Screenplay
... View MoreGreat example of an old-fashioned, pure-at-heart escapist event movie that doesn't pretend to be anything that it's not and has boat loads of fun being its own ludicrous self.
... View MoreA movie that not only functions as a solid scarefest but a razor-sharp satire.
... View MoreThis is ultimately a movie about the very bad things that can happen when we don't address our unease, when we just try to brush it off, whether that's to fit in or to preserve our self-image.
... View MoreWinchester is a true story movie, how interesting same time. Helen Mirren a beautiful performance. I can tell not very scary, just a few jumping tricks
... View More5/26/18. As much as I like Helen Mirren, this biopic of the Winchester heir and strange lady haunted by ghosts of those killed by Winchester firearms was only okay. Though atmospheric that in itself was not enough to make this worth watching. But, if you're a Mirren fan, then by all means catch it.
... View MoreWhen we first meet Helen Mirren in Winchester it's unevitable to think of The Woman in Black. We will never know what drove Mirren to take on this role. Perhaps she just wanted a horror movie in her repertoire. Then again, Winchester is a very predictable and unscary paint-by-the-numbers "horror" movie that shouldn't be considered as a genre representative. There is a moment early in the film when actor Jason Clarke is listening at the wall of the haunted Winchester house that made me laugh out loud because from this moment on I knew this is like watching a director (in this case directing brothers) learning to take first steps in the genre. The really sad thing is that not even the house looks scary or creates a tense atmosphere. It's a uninteresting story in a borefest.
