This is a tender, generous movie that likes its characters and presents them as real people, full of flaws and strengths.

Simple and well acted, it has tension enough to knot the stomach.

Watching The Muppets made me feel like a kid again. This fun family film isn't a reboot; it's a sequel - and a well-done one, at that. The humor in this loving tribute is quick and plentiful, plus, at its core, this movie has a heart. I loved this movie and I gladly welcome it to the Muppet canon.

My insatiable love for this movie's only grows with each viewing. The musical numbers are fantastic (Life's a Happy Song is maybe in my top 10 film numbers ever), the emotions are unexpectedly potent (Rainbow Connection & Pictures in My Head beautifully touch on my longing-for-childhood nerve), & the constant stream of sincerely hilarious jokes make it one of the great comedies of the '10s.

2011's The Muppets was a sequel, reboot and a loving homage from its writers Jason Segel and Nicholas Stoller. They end up making a delightfully funny film that adults and children, fans and non-fans can enjoy. The Muppets follows two brothers, human Gary, muppet Walter (Peter Linz) and Gary's girlfriend Mary (Amy Adams) go to Los Angeles to for Gary and Mary's anniversary and see the Muppets studios. However the studio is about to be sold to a evil oil baron (Chris Cooper) and it is up to Gary, Walter and Kermit to find the other muppets and do a telethon to raise the $10 Million to buy the studio back. The Muppets has seemingly the most clichéd plot possible that is where the film genius steps comes in, subversion this storyline with a self-awareness and twisting the conventions. It was a delightful, toe-tapping experience, having some big song and dance numbers (which are brilliants twisted at the end) and some of the best jokes are when the characters breaking the fourth wall like travel by map and the characters saying they will finish their recruitment drive by having a montage. This is humour that's clean enough for kids, smart enough for adults.Jason Segel and his co-writer Nicholas Stoller clearly loved the characters and director James Bobin made it into a bright, upbeat family film.

We live in a nostalgia obsessed age, so I suppose it was only a matter of time before someone dusted off The Muppets. Thankfully, it was someone who cared more about the integrity of the property than they did about making a few bucks.'The Muppets' is just a delightful film. With a giant heart on its sleeve, it sings and dances its way through a breezy hour and a half of cheerful, can-do storytelling. That's not to say it's dumb. Far from it. It actually has a deceptively sharp wit, but it's never snarky or mean spirited. This is a feel good movie for everyone. I can't recommend it enough.
