The movie is wonderful and true, an act of love in all its contradictions and complexity
... View MoreI think this is a new genre that they're all sort of working their way through it and haven't got all the kinks worked out yet but it's a genre that works for me.
... View MoreThe movie's not perfect, but it sticks the landing of its message. It was engaging - thrilling at times - and I personally thought it was a great time.
... View MoreThere is, somehow, an interesting story here, as well as some good acting. There are also some good scenes
... View MoreJack Black and Kyle Gass had something going here with this show. It was like musical sketch comedy. Pretty creative. I liked it. They had good songs. I can't recall one time where I didn't like one of the songs they played. It is annoying when they curse in a song and they beep it out, but other then that they were good. My favorite guest star on the show was Scott Adsit. That is my favorite episode with that strange story with the demon and the world's best song. I could just barely see some Mr. Show with Bob and David essence come through in some sketches on this show. Just barley. Tenacious D re-runs are on Comedy Central. (Check Listings)
... View MoreFrom their garage, to the Comedy Clubs to HBO, this series (produced by David Cross "Mr. Show") helped add fuel to an underground following for Tenacious D that would lead to their debut Album in 2001 "Tenacious D" and their sold out shows across the US and England. Each of the 6 episodes that aired on HBO start out with Jack and Kyle heading out to open mic night with guitars in hand. Starting out with an opening tune that usually meshed their clever comedic talents with beautiful harmonies and acoustic guitar, this would set up a Pulp style storyline that led to yet another open mic night and another great tune. This series is a modern Spinal Tap for the Garage Musician. I would like to see HBO offer the episodes on DVD so everyone can enjoy this classic. SM
... View MoreTenacious D features the band by just that name. It's members Jack Black and Kyle Gass can't help but rock your frickin' socks off. The band is by far the greatest in the world, but remember they didn't choose to be the best; it's a gift to us. Every few hundred years the gods get together and decide it's time to bless us with wonderment and exuberance, lucky for man kind Tenacious D is that trinket of love. Thanks be to the D in all it's glory. By Far a very funny show, if you enjoy Mr. Show with Bob and David, you'll like this, or if you just have a sense of humor you'll like it. Jack Black is a great comic talent and I hope more people get to experience his humor, because it's just so silly and brilliant. Do your self a favor and learn more about the D.
... View MoreHBO buried this show Sunday nights at midnight, but Tenacious D is one of the most original and funny shows to come around in recent years. Jack Black and Kyle Gass play two talented but wildly misdirected singer/songwriters. The plotlines are impossibly thin, and the type of humor is thankfully not for everyone -- it can be compared to The Larry Sanders Show and Mr. Show. Black and Gass (playing hyper versions of themselves) really hit their strides comedically and musically. This show didn't last long, but rumors of a feature length film persist.
