Strong acting helps the film overcome an uncertain premise and create characters that hold our attention absolutely.

Let me tell you before I start reviewing this movie, that Fahadh Faasil is the main character in this ridiculously executed movie. The movie starts off with a surprising turn of events which easily creates a suspense in the first fifteen minutes. But, then everything falls apart. Not even the nonlinear screenplay comes to its rescue, as all the tidbits are clichéd, and ubiquitous in the art world. The story has been published numerous times in books, cinema, plays, etc which talks about assassination of an innocent person who is chivalrous & politically vying to make people's lives happier. The involvement of land mafia & realty scams just makes it more apprehensive. And to add an emotional tint, every other character has either a girlfriend or a pregnant wife or a lover. Mohanlal is utter disgrace with his not-so- happening demeanor as the investigating officer (I hate the guy who wrote his name in the first place in end credits).Fahadh is very good, Asif Ali is average, while supporting cast (T G Ravi, Kurup & the females) have done well. Music is odd, editing is average & the effects (a scene involving an accident) is shameful. Towards the end, nothing intrigues & I left the theater with immense disappointment.BOTTOM LINE: I feel good about Fahadh's portrayal, but the complete actor may want to edit his alter ego (& website). Red Wine is a very bad thriller with only one thing working for it & that is the cast performance. The fermentation isn't too old for this wine, I would say.Can be watched with a typical Indian family?
