As Good as It Gets Trailers

Melvin Udall, a cranky, bigoted, obsessive-compulsive writer of romantic fiction, is rude to everyone he meets, including his gay neighbor, Simon. After Simon is brutally attacked and hospitalized, Melvin finds his life turned upside down when he has to look after Simon's dog. In addition, Carol, the only waitress at the local diner who will tolerate him, leaves work to care for her chronically ill son, making it impossible for Melvin to eat breakfast.

Plot so thin, it passes unnoticed.

Although it has its amusing moments, in eneral the plot does not convince.

In truth, there is barely enough story here to make a film.

This is ultimately a movie about the very bad things that can happen when we don't address our unease, when we just try to brush it off, whether that's to fit in or to preserve our self-image.

A single mother and waitress, a misanthropic author, and a gay artist form an unlikely friendship after the artist is assaulted in a robbery. As Good as It Gets benefits from once again excellent work by Jack Nicholson but also Helen Hunt, Greg Kinnear and Cuba Gooding Jr. plus the film is very romantic and comedic and it succeeds on both sides. It's not Nicholson's best work perhaps? But it's definitely on his Top 10 or something i mean trust me on that part it's actually pretty damn great and benefits that there's nothing that Nicholson can't do at this point. (A+)

It's supposed to be a classic award-winning romantic comedy film, but I didn't find it funny, I don't think the performances were quite oscar-worthy, and the romance/story left me feeling confused, uncomfortable, and annoyed.

First, I didn't want to see it 'cause it was too long and it didn't looked the way it was but then I saw it and it was amazing

How can a mean-spirited, foul-mouthed homophobic man be friends with a soft-hearted gay artist, and even make a beautiful waitress fall in-love with him? Watch this tale of unlikely friendships and romance to find out.I have to say that I enjoyed the story. Jack Nicholson delivered some of the darkly humorous lines. He nailed it. The seemingly meanest man on Earth actually has a good heart, and I find that endearing. I wish his character was explored more, we don't know so much about his past or why he is so scornful. Helen Hunt is magnificent. Her quick changes of reaction, from being angry to sad to happy and so on, are just perfect. She really deserved her Oscar win, and so did Nicholson. It's a good romantic comedy movie you can enjoy watching on a lazy afternoon. It's funny, it can be sad, and at times moving, especially when he cried because Greg already took back the dog. The ending is really nice.
